"Halogen lamp compact fluorescent lamp" will dominate the smart lighting market

At present, the global lighting product market is changing rapidly. As we all know, the era of incandescent lamps is over. The incandescent light exiting the stage of history may cause confusion, but it saves money and protects the environment. Today, lighting products range from incandescent lamps to halogen lamps, compact fluorescent lamps, and light-emitting diodes in a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors. Brian Fortenbery, an energy-saving lighting expert at the National Non-Profit Electric Power Research Institute, said: "Lighting products have a broad market development space, but it is definitely not a technology game."

The driving force for the transformation of lighting products comes from an Energy Independence and Security Act enacted by the US Congress in 2007. The bill establishes energy-saving standards for lighting equipment and is scheduled to begin in phases starting on January 1, 2012. The bill requires that the energy consumption of new types of lighting be reduced by at least 30%, and incandescent lamps do not meet this standard, so incandescent lamps cannot be used.

According to statistics, American household lighting energy consumption accounts for about 15% of the total energy consumption of American households. According to energy efficiency advocates, according to the annual household electricity consumption of 143 US dollars, the standard set by the new bill will save more than 10 billion US dollars per year for consumers in the United States, and the number of new power plants will be reduced by 30. In view of this, it is imperative to eliminate incandescent lamps and switch to new energy-saving lamps. The following is a comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of two alternatives to incandescent lamps.

People are used to using incandescent lamps. Since halogen lamps are the closest to incandescent lamps, they may be the preferred alternative to incandescent lamps. The halogen lamp injects halogen gas into the bulb. At high temperature, the evaporated tungsten re-solidifies on the tungsten wire to form a balanced cycle to prevent premature rupture of the tungsten wire. Therefore, the halogen lamp has a longer service life than the incandescent lamp. The energy consumption has also been reduced by 25%. In addition, although the appearance and performance of halogen lamps are similar to those of incandescent lamps, the service life is two to three times that of incandescent lamps; compared to CFL lamps, the price is lower and the light is adjustable.

Compact fluorescent lamp

In addition to the halogen lamp, the compact fluorescent lamp, that is, the CFL lamp, can be selected for energy saving. Although this type of lighting has been on the market for several decades, it is slow because of its large size, heavy weight, long startup time, and high price. . But since its inception, CFL lamps have evolved into lower-cost, brighter lighting, and the latest upgraded CFL lamps can be dimmed. Compared to incandescent lamps, CFL lamps reduce energy consumption by 75% and have a lifetime that is more than 10 times that of incandescent lamps. CFL lamps, like other fluorescent lamps, contain a small amount of mercury, so many large home stores offer mercury recycling services.

Most CFL lamps take longer to start up and take a few minutes to reach full brightness. GE has just announced a halogen-CFL hybrid lamp that will instantly reach full brightness and is expected to be available this spring.
